Chris Thompson

 

Chris and his wife Hazel have been part of the Fellowship since 1987 after moving from Dublin, Ireland.  Prior to this he obtained degrees in Commerce and Management Science at University College Dublin.  Having worked in IT for over 20 years he changed career, following redundancy, in 2009 and now works for an international fashion retailer in finance as a Systems Accountant and is currently studying for a Management Accounting qualification. 

Chris has been a Christian for over 33 years and has received Biblical instruction through Campus Crusade for Christ and Workshop.  Before joining the Fellowship he served as a Sunday School teacher in The Methodist Church in Ireland, a leader on a Scripture Union Camp and a Boys’ Brigade officer.  He went on the Walk of 1,000 Men to Cornwall in 1995.

Chris has been involved with the Children’s Work from the early 1990’s and currently works with the 8-14 age range.  He played a major role in planning and organising a Holiday Club for 5-11 year olds in 2004.  He has also led Alpha Courses.

Together with his wife Hazel he led the Care Team within the Fellowship for a number of years until 2011 and they have also run Parenting Courses and homegroups.

In 2008/09 he conducted an evangelism outreach in Weybridge called John 3:7 and remains committed to finding effective means to share the Good News with those who need to hear it.
