Yaabari Uebari
Yaabari and his wife Thelma moved into Weybridge in November 2002, on a job posting from Nigeria.
Yaabari became a Christian in 1981 in his first year of undergraduate study in Agronomy. He started working with children in 1983, while in the university as a volunteer worker in the university church. Since then he has devoted himself to working with children and leading worship in various churches in Nigeria.
After graduation from the university, Yaabari joined the leadership of a children’s ministry in Nigeria where he was involved in organising children’s holiday camps and mobilising churches to do the same for their children.
In 1997 he had the opportunity to extend his work with children to teenagers and youths. Together with his wife Thelma, they started a teenage and youth group in their local church in Lagos, Nigeria.
By 1998 Yaabari and Thelma came together with other like-minded Christians to pioneer a ministry to produce teaching materials, initially for teaching children in churches under the Nigerian Army Protestant Chaplaincy, and later spreading these materials to other churches and bible clubs in Nigeria.
In May 2008, Yaabari took a redundancy from Shell Nigeria after nearly 17 years of full time service during which he served various roles, including a posting to Shell International, London as Corporate Advisor. He currently works as a self-employed person.
Yaabari became the Leader and Pastor of the church in November 2009.
